Instructional Design Lead, Sales Training (Contract or Full Time)*

Their work spans live and virtual workshops, digital learning, eLearning, performance support tools, and other engaging training experiences.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Instructional Design Lead to design, develop, and manage high-quality learning content for life sciences clients.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will collaborate closely with company leadership, instructional designers, project managers, subject matter experts, and clients to create engaging and effective learning solutions across multiple formats.
You will play an important role in shaping content strategy, identifying the right learning approach for each client need, and ensuring programs are instructionally sound, accurate, engaging, and delivered on time.
This opportunity may begin as a contract-to-hire position or as a full-time role, depending on the candidate and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop learning solutions including live and virtual workshops, participant materials, job aids, video content, and eLearning storyboards.
- Apply adult learning principles and established instructional design methodologies to create engaging, effective training.
- Partner with clients and project managers to assess learning needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Conduct audience, training, content, and media analyses.
- Develop learning objectives, project outlines, design documents, curricula, and training strategies.
- Design pharmaceutical and biotech training programs, brand initiatives, and performance support materials.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, writers, project managers, designers, and other internal stakeholders throughout the development process.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and internal teams regarding project status, needs, and deliverables.
- Ensure instructional design deliverables meet established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Write, review, edit, and proofread learning materials for clarity, accuracy, consistency, tone, and learner engagement.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and manage updates to existing learning materials.
- Support facilitators and client trainers in becoming familiar with newly developed programs and content.
- Recommend innovative learning approaches as technologies, delivery methods, and learner expectations evolve.
- Advise clients on the design of workshops, virtual learning, eLearning modules, digital interactivities, and other learning experiences.
- Evaluate programs and learning materials and recommend improvements.
- Participate in creative brainstorming to develop new learning strategies, activities, methodologies, and approaches.
- Educate internal team members and clients on instructional design best practices and quality standards.
- Assist with proposals, presentations, and business development materials as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of instructional design experience within an agency environment.
- 3+ years of experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or broader life sciences clients.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies, including ADDIE and Kirkpatrick.
- Demonstrated experience designing instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, digital, and blended learning solutions.
- Excellent writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong business acumen and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
- Ability to adapt quickly as client needs and project requirements evolve.
- Availability during regular business hours, with flexibility when needed to meet client deadlines.
- Ability to travel periodically for client meetings or programs.
- Experience with virtual learning platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, and Adobe Connect.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Understanding of multimedia design principles and basic graphic design concepts.
Preferred Experience
- Master’s degree or higher in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Education, or a related field.
- Experience with project management platforms and tools.
- Experience developing eLearning using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, or Adobe Captivate.
- Training delivery or facilitation experience.
Work Environment
This is a remote position and may be performed from anywhere within the United States with a reliable, high-bandwidth internet connection.
Candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones are preferred to support collaboration during standard business hours.
