Our client is a continuing medical education organization dedicated to improving clinical competence, performance, and patient outcomes through high-quality CME and professional development programs.

The organization develops accredited education across multiple therapeutic areas and formats, including e-learning, video, satellite symposia, grand rounds, small-group learning, and print.

They are seeking a Medical Director with strong Oncology experience, ideally including Lung and Breast Cancer, to support needs assessment development, grant writing, educational strategy, content development, faculty collaboration, and new business opportunities.

Position Overview

Location: Remote, U.S.-based
Travel: Approximately 15%

The Medical Director will collaborate with internal teams and external experts to identify practice gaps and unmet educational needs, develop strategic needs assessments, create high-quality medical education content, and support business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify clinical practice gaps and unmet educational needs
• Develop strategic needs assessments and grant proposals
• Design high-quality accredited medical education for live and digital formats
• Develop and edit clinical content for physicians and other healthcare professionals
• Collaborate with faculty to develop slide decks, multimedia programs, recordings, and other educational materials
• Maintain strong relationships with Oncology faculty and thought leaders
• Develop post-test questions, outcomes assessments, and learner surveys
• Monitor emerging clinical evidence, treatment trends, guidelines, and industry developments in Oncology
• Ensure educational activities comply with applicable CME standards and accreditation requirements
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure programs are delivered on time and within budget
• Support new business development by identifying educational opportunities, practice gaps, and potential funders
• Contribute regularly to proposals and needs assessments

Qualifications

• 3–4+ years of relevant experience in medical education
• Strong Oncology expertise; experience in Lung and/or Breast Cancer strongly preferred
• Existing relationships with Oncology faculty and thought leaders
• Demonstrated experience developing needs assessments and grant proposals that have resulted in funding
• Significant experience writing, editing, and developing clinical content for healthcare professionals
• Strong understanding of accredited medical education and applicable industry standards
• Ability to rapidly research, analyze, and synthesize clinical and scientific evidence
• Familiarity with key Oncology stakeholders, including thought leaders, commercial supporters, societies, and patient organizations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
• Familiarity with AMA style
• Advanced medical or scientific degree preferred; candidates with substantial relevant medical education experience will also be considered
