Our client operates a leading digital education platform delivering accredited CME for healthcare professionals, along with dedicated educational resources for patients and caregivers. The organization partners with medical societies, clinical experts, and patient advocacy groups to develop high-impact, video-based programs and interactive case studies across oncology, neurology, rare disease, and other complex therapeutic areas.

Role Summary

The Medical Director serves as a scientific lead across clinician and patient education programs. Working closely with Medical Strategy and cross-functional teams, this role ensures scientific rigor, educational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance throughout the full grant lifecycle—from concept development and needs assessment through program execution, outcomes reporting, and scientific dissemination.

This is an individual-contributor role that partners closely with Business Development, Program Management, Outcomes, Marketing, faculty, KOLs, advocacy organizations, and other external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Strategy & Business Development

• Lead scientific concept development for new educational programs and grant opportunities
• Develop and review needs assessments, learning objectives, gap analyses, and outcomes plans
• Provide scientific support throughout grant development and submission
• Advise Business Development on emerging science, guideline changes, unmet educational needs, and new program opportunities
• Monitor major congresses and evolving therapeutic landscapes to identify potential pipeline opportunities
• Collaborate with external medical writers and provide scientific direction and review

Program Development & Implementation

• Own the scientific quality of funded programs from kick-off through completion
• Lead scientific development and review of slide decks, patient education, and other program content
• Ensure content is accurate, evidence-based, balanced, compliant, and aligned with learning objectives
• Partner with faculty, KOLs, writers, and Program Management to maintain scientific quality and program timelines
• Develop pre-, post-, and follow-up assessment tools in collaboration with the Outcomes team
• Ensure educational content is tied to identified performance gaps and measurable practice change

Outcomes & Scientific Dissemination

• Collaborate with Outcomes to interpret program data and identify key scientific findings and future educational needs
• Review interim and final outcomes reports for scientific accuracy and clarity
• Develop abstracts, posters, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications based on program outcomes
• Present scientific findings at medical conferences as appropriate

Cross-Functional Scientific Support

• Provide scientific consultation to Marketing, Communications, Partnerships, and other internal teams
• Review supporter-facing and learner-facing materials for scientific accuracy
• Collaborate with advocacy groups, centers of excellence, foundations, societies, and associations on educational content and partnership initiatives
• Participate in partner meetings to identify additional educational and business opportunities

Therapeutic Area Expertise

Maintain current expertise in General Medicine, including treatment paradigms, evolving guidelines, pivotal trials, major congresses, and unmet educational needs. Serve as an internal and client-facing scientific resource across Business Development, Program Management, Outcomes, Marketing, and partner-facing discussions.

Qualifications

• Advanced clinical or scientific degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, or equivalent
• Experience in accredited and/or non-accredited medical education strongly preferred
• Experience developing needs assessments, scientific content, and outcomes-driven educational programs
• Strong scientific writing skills, including needs assessments, abstracts, posters, and publications
• Track record of abstract, poster, and/or peer-reviewed publication development
• Comfortable working with KOLs, faculty, advocacy partners, and commercial supporters
• Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative, solution-oriented approach with strong attention to scientific accuracy and detail
• Comfortable using AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency while maintaining rigorous scientific review and quality standards

Compensation

Compensation will be based on relevant experience and prior performance.
